Driving sustainable solutions in technology

At Ideal, we are fully committed to sustainability, both in the technology solutions we put forward for our customers and in how we operate our own business.

Let’s Talk

Sustainability for our customers

All our customer proposals include a sustainability focus. Many of our technologies have specific sustainability advantages in energy usage and efficiency over legacy systems.

For new projects, such as Smart Buildings or new Fit-outs, we prioritise sustainability, ensuring that smart energy-saving features, lower-carbon alternatives and employee wellbeing measures are integrated in the design from the outset. We assess sustainability across our supply chain and implementation phases, ensuring we have information on all of our vendors and services providers. We plan implementation around the lowest possible impact and include waste reduction measures.

Sustainability in our business

We aim to exceed all legislation requirements, and to operate in an environmentally and socially responsible manner that reduces our business impact.

To further support our commitment to positive action, we have signed up to the SME Climate Pledge, which sets targets to reduce emissions by 2030, cut emissions to zero before 2050 and to report our progress towards Net Zero annually.

Our internal ESG initiatives include the following areas:

Building management and power usage

Green energy usage, zonal lighting controls, and power-off policies to reduce carbon footprint.

Emissions monitoring

Collating data and monitoring our emissions.

Recycling and waste management

Using on-site business waste management services, applying circular economy principles to all electrical items, prioritising re-use over recycling and using vendor take-back schemes to recycle equipment and packaging wherever possible.

Low-emission transport

Supporting employees with e-vehicle purchasing, public transport uptake, car-pooling and bike sharing schemes.

Diversity, equality and inclusion

Applying blind recruitment principles, gender-pay reporting, making DEI a regular board focus

Voluntary work and charity support

giving every member of staff a day to volunteer for any good cause they choose. We support local charities and encouraging group charitable initiatives like collections for a local women’s refuge. We also sponsor and host ‘codebar’, the charity that encourages under-represented people to pursue careers in IT.

Health and well-being

Providing employees with access to physical, mental and financial well-being support, hosting mental health check-ins and monitoring well-being through regular staff surveys.
